Mary’s House Walk 2025

Walk with us to say no to domestic and family violence

Sunday 26 October

Each October, a sea of supporters take to the leafy streets and harbour paths of North Sydney and surrounds. The Mary’s House Walk is a powerful show of solidarity with women and children escaping violence and abuse. It’s about walking side by side with one clear message: we say no to domestic and family violence.

This year’s walk will be held on Sunday 26 October, starting at St Leonards Park (North Sydney), adjacent to North Sydney Oval on Miller St. The 8.8km route takes in the stunning natural surrounds of Balls Head Reserve, Waverton, and Lavender Bay, returning through McMahons Point to finish back in the park. It’s an easy grade walk suitable for all ages, whether on legs or wheels, with pets (on leash) or prams. All are very welcome!

A grassroots mission with a big impact

Mary’s House Services is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that provides refuge, case management, and community programs for women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Since opening its refuge doors nine years ago, Mary’s House Services has delivered over 16,500 safe nights of accommodation to women and children in crisis and built an expert suite of community programs and clinics that continues to grow.

By taking part in the Mary’s House Walk, you’re helping to raise critical funds that provide:

  • More hours of expert social worker care
  • Safety planning and access to safe accommodation at the refuge
  • Expanded support programs for women across varying stages of their journey
  • Increased awareness of the national crisis that is domestic and family violence

A call to action; for our community, by our community

Last year, Mary’s House Services set an ambitious fundraising goal of $250,000, and thanks to the incredible support of walkers, donors, and sponsors, we came close. This year, we aim to go even further, with your help. Whether you walk with family, friends, your workplace, or your pooch, every step helps raise funds and awareness. It’s also an opportunity to start your own peer-to-peer fundraising, making an even greater impact through your network.
