'Private Matters' Exhibition
Artwork to raise awareness and funds for Mary’s House Refuge
As part of the exhibition ‘Private Matters’, artist Anne Buckingham has made 20 pairs of art inspired children’s paper thongs. The thongs are based on children’s picture books and their creation highlights the impact of domestic violence on children.
Anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more for Mary’s House will be entered in the draw to receive one of the pairs. Mary’s House is a newly opened refuge on the lower north shore of Sydney supporting women and children needing help because of domestic violence.
To be included in the draw, donations need to be in cash and made via Gallery Lane Cove whilst the exhibition is showing. All money will go to Mary’s House and neither the Gallery nor the artist will receive any of the money.
The Gallery has kindly offered to act as a collection point both for the donations and for the paper shoes. Anne will notify those 20 people whose names are drawn out after the Private Matters Exhibition closes. The artworks can then be collected from the Gallery.
